The Honourable Chief Justice Mary T. Moreau of the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta was sworn into office on December 20, 2017, after being appointed by the Prime Minister of Canada, the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, on October 17, 2017.
In a historic moment in our province’s legal history, she is the first female to be appointed Chief Justice of the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta and the first Chief Justice of the Superior Trial Court of Franco-Albertan heritage.
In another first, as part of Chief Justice Moreau’s mandate to provide access to justice for all and continue building public confidence in our Courts through effective communication, video clips of her swearing-in ceremony can be viewed on the Alberta Courts website.
