  • Notice to the Profession & Public - Requests for Refund of Daily Trial Fees

    In order to ensure that scheduled trial time is used efficiently and to avoid trial continuations, both of which strain already limited court resources, parties will not be provided a refund of the $600 trial entry fee at any time after paid for entering a trial, nor will the daily trial fee for scheduled trial days be refunded, on days where the trial does not sit. Refunds of the daily trial fee will only be provided when a trial settles in advance of the start date of the trial.

  • Judicial Dispute Resolution - Availability in the Fall 2019 Session

  • Judicial Dispute Resolution - Booking Civil and Family JDR

    On June 5, 2019, the Court made dates available for the booking of Family and Civil JDRs in the Fall 2019 session in Calgary and Edmonton. All of the dates for Family JDRs are now booked, but there are still available dates for Civil JDRs in both Calgary and Edmonton in the Fall 2019 session. As of August 1, 2019, any remaining dates for Civil JDRs in Calgary and Edmonton will be made available for Family JDRs.

  • Notice to the Profession & Public - Enforcement of Mandatory Alternative Dispute Resolution Rules 8.4(3)(a) and 8.5(1)(a)

    Effective September 1, 2019, the Court will commence a one-year pilot project to lift the suspension of the enforcement of Rules 8.4(3)(a) and 8.5(1)(a) of the Alberta Rules of Court (“the Mandatory ADR Rules”). Notice to Profession NP 2013-01, which suspended the enforcement of the Mandatory ADR Rules, is hereby repealed, effective August 31, 2019.

  • Group Bar Call Pilot Project 2019

    The Court of Queen’s Bench is organizing a group bar call in each of Edmonton and Calgary. We are interested in providing this service to articling students who do not wish to have a private ceremony while maintaining the option of the individual bar call for others. The dates are July 26, 2019 (Edmonton) and August 9, 2019 (Calgary). The bar call will take place at 1:30 p.m. Chief Justice Moreau will preside over the ceremony in Edmonton and Associate Chief Justice Rooke will preside over the ceremony in Calgary.
